Vera Illugadóttir’s accomplished series entitled ‘In the Light of History’ has been a hit both on Icelandic national radio and via online podcasts. The various programmes feature vivid and fascinating accounts by Illugadóttir of episodes from human history. Her listener base has grown constantly over the six years the programmes have been broadcast – the truth is often more incredible than any tale. There is plenty of material to choose from, and the series takes on a new guise on the theatre stage, with Illugadóttir appearing as herself, along with musician Hallur Ingólfsson.
